DESCRIPTION: EPW - Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, free-sprung keyless lever fusee with 30-hour winding indicator, 50mm, 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1887, "R B" in oval cameo likely for casemaker Robert Bellows, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, 20-21J, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, gilt mvt, s#06582 with matching serial number to case and to dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 72.9 dwt (113.4 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly after a twist to start, good winding indicator function, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, some scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with short scratch left of center; nearly mint hands; case rear opens a bit wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 100-105 degrees) and case rear leaves some gap to ding along sides when closed, case rear hinge with a one perimeter segment of tube having a tiny metal split and a deep ding, case shows light wear, ding or mild dent to band at 7, few shallow dents and dings to rear and cuvette; tight bow thinned a bit at top, crown shows medium wear; glass crystal with scattered scratches.
